My favorite breakfast
Sake/luncheon meat/egg musubi
Usually eat 2 in the morning that buy on way to work, from neighborhood bento place called Oasisu. The sake is cooked & flaked but I can't tell the seasonings if any. May even be canned. But it is really oishii! I never seem to tire of it. As soon as I take the first bite & taste the sake I just plow through two in less than 10 minutes while going through my e-mail! Okinawa's answer to Hawai'i's Spam musubi for me.
Costs ¥150 ea. Price is up there because of the bad $/¥ rate. Was 99.5¥ today, was 115¥ in Dec. COLA hasn't yet caught up. Those wondering, sha-ke or sake (鮭) = salmon.

that's the way it should be with the nori wrapped completely around, not just a ribbon.
That look ono!
That looks delicious, I wish I could have that for breakfast! I wonder if anyone in Hawaii makes that? :)
Maybe heresy, but maybe I enjoy this sake musubi more than regular Spam musubi!
i could totally go for one of those right now
Tropic Fish and Vegetable at Ward Farmer's Market (soon closing their doors for good) sells Salmon Musubi, but without the egg.
$1.50 is the standard market rate here today for a SPAM Musubi.
But man, the dollar sure is ever-so-weak against the Yen right now.
When we used to travel to Tokyo back in the 80's, it was approximately 300 Yen/US dollar.
While the strong yen is good for Hawaii's Japanese tourism industry, it also hurts sales of US imported good to Japan.
pomai - Read about Tropic, sad, another ending of Hawai'i's past.
The yen thing is also bad for Japan's exports too!
