unagi & goya chanpuru don

I'm still here! Been very busy at work, and at home I've been just eating regular, simple stuff of mine that I usually cook and posted about before. Don't want to bore you.

Shopping today at San A and bought a bento for lunch - unagi & goya chanpuru don. Cost was ¥420, About $4 at the crazy yen rate we're going through right now. Very oishii!

kat - would you believe red daikon?

kamuela - The supermarket San A always seems to have 2~3 different donburis for sale each weekend, like a rotating menu. Doesn't repeat too often.

I wonder if that's fukujinzuke, the kind they serve with curry here.

Kat - You're right. There are two kinds of takuan I buy. One is the local whole pieces of daikon that I slice myself. The other I buy is already in small pieces in a sweet sauce that is from mainland Japan. I enjoy both. I can eat takuan, and for that matter kim chee, as a snack. My after school snack when I was young used to be takuan or kim chee and milk.

I like the takuan that you have to slice yourself!
