Friday soba...
...tried tebichi soba at another place - Sun Toguchi. They were closed for a while and I think another concessionaire took over. Not as good as Hanaori or what Sun Toguchi previously had. Soba wasn't as delicate, tebichi was not that tender or good looking, and the jiru was just OK - ¥650.
Chibana-san had yasai (veggie) soba - ¥650. Treated him since yesterday after work he helped me change my car battery.

It will be a sad, sad day when we will no longer be able to enjoy your tasty meals in Okinawa. I try to enjoy my chinese takeout on the rare occasions (very rare), but when they call noodles spaghetti (when it is clearly NOT spaghetti), I weep for them having to bastardize the names to suit italian tastes.
Rowena - Yes, it will be a sad, sad day (to quote you) that I will not be able to enjoy the eats here in Okinawa. I've only scratched the surface of perhaps the 100s maybe 1000s of soba places located throughout Okinawa. Very sad!
May I suggest having five meals a day till that day comes ??:)
by then you will be ready to run the Honolulu Marathon ! and more.
enjoy eating
is soba better than ramen. Suppose you had too much to drink the night before, ramen or soba, for the next morning?
RONW - I still like ramen, closest thing to saimin. But there's so many diffferent variations of Okinawa soba. In all my years here I like the smaller, crinkly soba at Hanaori. I really don't like the thicker udon-size noodles. And to me it's not the type of noodles after having a few the night before - it's the quality and taste of the jiru or soup that's most important to me.
Hey where are the NEW FOOD POSTS :)
YOU gotta keep up your quota :)
enjoy
